A blooming marvellous sizzling summer season!

The Channel Islands are busy throughout the year but by summer things are really starting to heat up with a packed calendar of events and festivals in Jersey and Guernsey and it looks like there’s something for everyone.

Fantastic Floral Festivities

Both Jersey and Guernsey are renown for their beautiful floral displays and by summer the blooms are in abundance with fragrant and colourful displays. Some of the Jersey houses, normally closed to the public, throw open their gardens to visitors whilst rose lovers can enjoy a dedicated show. RHS Gold garden winners in Herm will guide you around their coastal creations whilst both islands celebrate their own Battle of Flowers Festival in August.

Racing

If you enjoy racing in any way then whether it be horses, yachts, horses or cars, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Jersey’s popular sand racing and motor cross events continue throughout the summer as do the themed horse racing afternoons. Both islands see the arrival of yachts and powerboats whilst there’s also chances to catch up with vintage cars.

Out and About

Both Jersey and Guernsey provide ample opportunities for walking with a series of guided walks taking pace. Runners will enjoy the summer season of marathon and trail events.

Seaside and Seafront

When it comes to festivals, the islands are off to a head start with a fanfare for foodie’s. No festival is complete without some local mouthwatering delights and being islands, there’s always a fresh and local source of great seafood. Look out for Jersey Wonders and Guernsey gâche as they’re bound to be on the sweet treats festival menus.

Live gigs and Music

Throughout the summer months there’s always Sunday concerts in Candie Gardens in Guernsey with dancing and music in the square in St Peter Port each Saturday. Jersey has two big live music festivals whilst Sark enjoys a folk festival.

  • 18 – 20 July Big Gig in the Park with Sir Tom Jones headlining the first night
  • 24 August Vale Earth Fair, Guernsey
  • 30 – 31 August Jersey Live

For the family

Budding zoo keepers will love ‘Keeper time’ at Durrell Wildlife Park in Jersey, who run a series of workshops throughout the summer for older children. Families will enjoy most of the events listed on this page whilst those below particularly have entertainment for children.
