Occupation to Liberation

30 March – 10 May

The fascinating history of the Occupation and Liberation of the islands is explored in this year’s Guernsey Heritage Festival with over 300 events taking place throughout Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm. Hop over to Jersey and you can join in with Occupation themed walks, visit the war tunnels or watch Liberation Day commemorations and celebrations.

Coinciding with the festival is the release of an exciting new film called ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’. Due in cinemas on 20 April, it’s based on a book exploring the effect of the Occupation on Guernsey residents. Other events include an island wide treasure hunt on Guernsey, a photo challenge on Alderney, visits to bunkers used during the Occupation, World War II cinema screenings, food tastings, guided walks and an RAF day at Castle Cornet.
